You can host your website with us while using another provider for email, such as Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. To make this work smoothly, you need to tell your hosting that your email is handled elsewhere.
Why this matters
Your website often sends emails to addresses on your own domain – for example contact form messages or shop order notifications. If your hosting thinks it handles your email, it tries to deliver these messages locally, and they never reach your real inbox at Microsoft or Google. Setting Remote mail fixes this.
Set mail routing to Remote mail
- Select Websites in the left side bar, then select the website you want to manage.
- Select Domains in the menu along the top, then select your domain.
- Under Mail routing settings, choose:
- Local mail – if your email is hosted with us.
- Remote mail – if you use a third-party email provider such as Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace.
Point your email records at your provider
Your domain’s MX records must point to your email provider, and you’ll usually also need the verification and security records they give you (such as SPF, DKIM and DMARC). Your provider tells you exactly which records to add – see how to update your domain’s DNS records for where to add them.
