How to disable or delete an email account

When you no longer need an email address, you can either disable it or delete it.

  • Disable – turns the account off without deleting it, so you can turn it back on later. While it’s disabled, emails sent to it are returned to the sender. Useful when someone leaves and you’re not yet sure whether you’ll need their address again.
  • Permanently delete – removes the address and all the emails stored in it.

First, log in to your Enhance panel – see how to login to Enhance Panel. If you only have an email address and no panel login, ask whoever manages your hosting to do this for you.

Disable or delete an address

  1. Select Websites in the left side bar, then select your website.
  2. Select Emails in the menu along the top.
  3. Open the menu (⋮) next to the email address, then select Disable or Permanently delete.

You can also delete an address from its Manage page, using the Delete button at the bottom.

Deleting can’t be undone. Before you delete an address, save any emails you want to keep, for example by moving them to another mailbox in your email app. Once deleted, emails sent to the address are returned to the sender, unless you have a catch-all address.

Instead of deleting

If someone has left your business but people still email their address, consider setting up an out of office reply with an alternative contact, or forwarding their emails to a colleague, so nothing is missed.
