How to cancel a service

You can ask to cancel a service at any time from your client area. Before you do, check the points on this page so you don’t lose anything you need.

Before you cancel, make sure you’ve saved a copy of anything you need, such as your website files, databases and email. Once a service ends, its data is deleted after a short time – see what happens to my data when I leave PAC.

First, log in to your client area – see how do I log in to my PAC client area.

Request a cancellation

  1. Select Services > My Services, then select the service you want to cancel.
  2. Select Request Cancellation. You’ll find it in the Actions menu on the left, and as a red button on the service page.
  3. Tell us briefly why you’re cancelling. It helps us improve.
  4. Choose when the cancellation should happen:
    • End of billing period – your service keeps running until the end of the period you’ve paid for. This is usually the best choice.
    • Immediate – your service stops straight away.
  5. Confirm your request.

Check the cancellation type before you confirm. It’s set to Immediate to start with. If you’d like your service to keep running until the end of the period you’ve already paid for, change it to End of billing period.

Things to check

CheckWhy it matters
Your domain nameDomains are separate from hosting. Cancelling hosting doesn’t cancel your domain, and you’ll want to keep it. If you’re moving it elsewhere, see how to transfer a domain away from PAC.
Your emailIf your email is on the hosting you’re cancelling, it will stop working. Set up your email somewhere else first, and copy any messages you want to keep.
Add-onsAdd-ons such as Patchstack are linked to your website. Cancel them too if you no longer need them.
Unpaid invoicesCancelling doesn’t cancel invoices that are already due.

Thinking of cancelling because something isn’t right? Please talk to us first – we’d much rather fix it. Contact our support team, or if you need a smaller or bigger plan, see how to upgrade or downgrade your hosting plan.

Refunds

Whether you’re entitled to a refund depends on the service and when you cancel. See how do I cancel a service, and will I get a refund and how does the 60-day money-back guarantee work.
