How to prepare for your migration

We do the heavy lifting, but a few minutes of preparation on your side helps your migration go smoothly.

Please don’t cancel your current hosting yet. Keep it running until your migration is complete and you’ve confirmed everything is working at PAC. Cancelling early could take your website and email offline, and we may need your old account to copy from.

Your checklist

  • Make a list of your websites and email addresses so nothing is missed.
  • Find the login for your current hosting control panel, or ask your current host for a full backup of your account. If you only have your WordPress login, that’s fine too – we’ll tell you if we need anything else.
  • Find where your domain is registered, and check you can log in there.
  • Note any other services connected to your domain, such as Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace email, an online shop platform or email marketing tools. These rely on DNS records that need to be carried across, so let us know about them.
  • Check when your current hosting renews, so you can plan the move before then.
  • Choose a good time. If your business has a quiet day, tell us and we’ll aim for that.

During the move

  • Try not to make changes to your website once we’ve started copying it, such as new blog posts, products or plugin updates. Changes made on your old host after the copy won’t come across. If you need to make an urgent change, let us know.
  • Keep an eye on your support ticket for updates or questions from us.

Only ever send login details through a support ticket in your client area, never by email. Messages in support tickets can only be read on our secure website – email notifications don’t include the content. Please don’t send passwords to us, or to anyone, in a normal email.

Questions about moving to PAC? Please speak to our sales team before you order, or open a support ticket if you’re already a customer. We’re happy to talk it through.
