How to set up a redirect

A redirect automatically sends visitors from one address to another – for example from an old page to its new location, or from a domain you no longer use to your main website.

Which type should I use?

  • 301 (permanent) – use this when the move is permanent. Search engines update their records to the new address, so it’s the best choice for SEO.
  • 302 (temporary) – use this for short-term changes, such as a temporary holding page.

First, log in to your Enhance panel – see how to login to Enhance Panel.

Add a redirect

  1. Select Websites in the left side bar, then select the website you want to manage.
  2. In the menu along the top, open the Advanced drop-down and select Redirects.
  3. Select Add redirect.
  4. Fill in the row:
    • Status – choose 301 or 302.
    • Domain – the domain visitors will arrive on.
    • Slug – the page to redirect, for example old-page. Leave it blank to redirect the whole domain.
    • Destination URL – choose https:// and enter the address to send visitors to.
  5. Select Add.

Test your redirect in a private or incognito browser window. Browsers remember 301 redirects, so if you change one later, your own browser may keep using the old one until you clear its cache.

Looking to send everyone to the secure https:// version of your website? You don’t need a redirect for that – use Force HTTPS instead. See how SSL certificates work on your website.
