How to view your PHP error log

If your website shows an error, a blank page, or something isn’t working as it should, the PHP error log often tells you why – for example which plugin or file caused the problem.

First, log in to your Enhance panel – see how to login to Enhance Panel.

View the PHP error log

  1. Select Websites in the left side bar, then select the website you want to manage.
  2. In the menu along the top, open the Advanced drop-down and select Developer tools.
  3. In the PHP section, scroll to php-error.log. Use the refresh button to load the latest entries.

The log is also saved as a file called php-error.log in your website’s home folder, which you can open or download using the File Manager.

Making sense of it

  • The most recent errors are usually the most relevant – check the date and time against when the problem started.
  • Look for a file path. It often includes a plugin or theme name, which points to the cause.
  • For WordPress, disabling the plugin or theme named in the error is often a quick fix.

Stuck? Copy the relevant error lines into a support ticket and we’ll help you work out what’s wrong. For problems inside WordPress plugins or themes, see do you support WordPress plugins and themes.
