How to use the File Manager

The File Manager lets you work with your website’s files directly in your browser – no FTP program needed.

First, log in to your Enhance panel – see how to login to Enhance Panel.

Open the File Manager

  1. Select Websites in the left side bar, then select the website you want to manage.
  2. Select Files in the menu along the top.

Finding your way around

  • The folder tree on the left shows your folders. Select the + next to a folder to expand it.
  • The main area lists the files and folders in the folder you’re in, with their permissions, size and when they were last modified.
  • public_html (marked with a globe icon) holds your website’s files. This is what visitors see.
  • Folders starting with a dot, such as .ssh or .config, are used by the system. Leave these alone unless you know what you’re doing.

Upload files

Open the folder you want – usually public_html or a folder inside it – then select Upload and choose the files from your computer.

Create a file or folder

Open the folder you want, then select New.

Work with a file or folder

Use the menu (⋮) at the end of a file or folder’s line to see the actions available for it. To work with several items at once, tick them first, or use Select all.

Take care when editing or deleting files. Changes take effect immediately and can break your website. If you’re about to make a big change, take a backup first – see how to create a manual backup.

You can switch between list and grid views using the icons at the top right of the file list.
