PHP is the programming language that powers most websites, including WordPress. Newer versions are faster and more secure, but older websites and plugins aren’t always compatible with them.
Change the PHP version
- Select Websites in the left side bar, then select the website you want to manage.
- In the menu along the top, open the Advanced drop-down and select Developer tools.
- In the PHP section, find Change the PHP version for your website.
- Choose the version you want from the drop-down and confirm the change.
Which version should I choose?
- Versions labelled Latest version or LTS are supported and receive security updates.
- Versions with no label have reached end of life and no longer receive security fixes. Avoid these unless your software needs them, and plan to upgrade.
