How to set up and manage OpenClaw

Once you’ve installed OpenClaw, you manage it from its Toolkit in your Enhance panel.

First, log in to your Enhance panel – see how to login to Enhance Panel.

Open the OpenClaw Toolkit

  1. Select Websites in the left side bar, then select the website OpenClaw is installed on.
  2. In the Applications box, select Toolkit next to OpenClaw.

The Toolkit has three sections: Gateway token, Device authentication and AI provider keys.

1. Add your AI provider key

OpenClaw needs a key from an AI provider to work. Under AI provider keys, paste your key into the box for your provider – OpenAI, xAI, Gemini, Claude or OpenRouter – then select Save. You can add more than one.

Your AI provider charges you for every request OpenClaw makes, and an AI assistant can make a lot of them. We recommend setting a spending limit in your AI provider’s account. Never share your API keys with anyone.

2. Approve your device

For security, every browser or device that connects to OpenClaw must be approved first.

  1. Select Dashboard at the top of the Toolkit page. OpenClaw opens in a new tab.
  2. Go back to the Toolkit tab, and under Pending device requests select the refresh icon.
  3. Your device appears in the list. Check it’s yours, then approve it.
  4. It moves to Paired devices, and you can now use the OpenClaw dashboard.

Repeat this for each new browser or device you use.

Only approve devices you recognise. If you see a request you weren’t expecting, don’t approve it – and rotate your gateway token (see below).

Your gateway token

The Gateway token gives access to your OpenClaw gateway and dashboard, so treat it like a password. You can show it with the eye icon, or copy it with the copy icon.

If you think it might have been seen by someone else, select Rotate token to replace it with a new one. The old token stops working.

Removing OpenClaw

To remove OpenClaw completely, select Delete at the bottom of the Toolkit page. Remember to also delete any API keys you created for it in your AI provider’s account.

Using OpenClaw safely

  • OpenClaw can take actions for you in the apps you connect to it. Only connect what you need, and review its settings in the dashboard.
  • Keep your gateway token and API keys private.
  • Check your AI provider’s usage regularly.

For help using OpenClaw itself, such as connecting it to your apps, see the OpenClaw documentation. We look after the hosting it runs on.
