How to set up a cron job

A cron job runs a task automatically on a schedule – for example every 5 minutes, or once a day at midnight. They’re often used by website software for things like sending emails or clearing out old data. Your software’s instructions will usually tell you if you need one, and what to enter.

First, log in to your Enhance panel – see how to login to Enhance Panel.

Add a cron job

  1. Select Websites in the left side bar, then select the website you want to manage.
  2. In the menu along the top, open the Advanced drop-down and select Developer tools.
  3. Select Cron jobs in the menu on the left (or scroll down).
  4. Select Add cron job.
  5. Enter the command or web address to run, and choose how often it should run, then save.

Your cron jobs are listed with the command or request URL and the interval. Use the menu (⋮) next to one to change or remove it.

Don’t run cron jobs more often than you need to – very frequent jobs use more of your plan’s resources.

Leave this setting switched off

Under Cron jobs you’ll see Allow editing of cron from website container. It’s off by default for a good reason: if your website were ever infected with malware, it could use this to create its own cron jobs and keep reinfecting your site. Please leave it switched off unless a developer specifically needs it.
