How to change PHP settings such as upload size and memory limit

Some website tasks need higher PHP limits than the defaults – for example uploading a large file or importing a big website. You can change these limits using the php.ini editor.

First, log in to your Enhance panel – see how to login to Enhance Panel.

Open the php.ini editor

  1. Select Websites in the left side bar, then select the website you want to manage.
  2. In the menu along the top, open the Advanced drop-down and select Developer tools.
  3. Select php.ini editor in the menu on the left (or scroll down).

You’ll see a list of settings (directives) and their current values. Settings marked Inherited are our defaults.

Change an existing setting

Open the menu (⋮) next to the setting and change its value.

Add a new setting

Select Add directive, enter the setting’s name and its value, and save.

Example: increase the maximum upload size

  1. Add or change upload_max_filesize, with a value in megabytes followed by M – for example 200M.
  2. Do the same for post_max_size, using the same value or slightly higher.

Other common settings you can change the same way include memory_limit and max_execution_time.

Only change settings you understand, and keep values sensible. Very high limits can use more of your plan’s resources. If you’re not sure what value you need, ask us.
