How do I cancel a service, and will I get a refund?

Cancelling a new hosting service within 60 days? Use our 60-day money-back guarantee instead – it needs a support ticket rather than the cancellation form.

How to cancel

You can cancel at any time by submitting a cancellation request in your client area, or by opening a support ticket. Please do this at least 7 days before your next renewal date.

Choosing when it ends

When you cancel, you choose between:

  • End of billing period – the service carries on until the end of the period you’ve paid for, then stops.
  • Immediate – the service stops within 2 business days of your request.

There’s no refund or credit for the unused part of a billing period with immediate cancellation. If you’ve paid in advance, choosing end of billing period lets you use the time you’ve already paid for.

Outside the 60-day guarantee, we don’t refund the unused part of a billing period unless the law requires it or a service credit applies.

Moving to a different website? You may not need to cancel

If you no longer need a hosting service for its current website, you don’t have to cancel and lose the time you’ve paid for. Open a support ticket and we’ll change the domain on the hosting account, free of charge, so you can use the rest of your billing period for another website.

Before you cancel

  • Download a copy of your website, databases and email. After a service ends we keep your content for 30 days so you can ask for a copy, then it’s deleted – see what happens to my data when I leave.
  • If you’re keeping a domain but moving it elsewhere, transfer it before it’s due for renewal.
  • For domains you no longer want, turning off auto-renew in the client area tells us not to renew it. The domain will then expire and be lost, so only do this if you’re sure.

The full wording is in clause 5.3 of our Terms of Service and clause 3.2 of our Domain Registration Terms.
