How to update your domain’s nameservers

You need to be logged into your PAC Client Area to manage your domains. Your Client Area (pacwebhosting.uk/mydomains) is where you manage domains – it is separate from Enhance Panel, where you manage hosting and email.

Your nameservers control which company looks after your domain’s DNS – in other words, where your domain points. To point your domain at your PAC hosting, you set our nameservers against it.

Open your domain

Go to pacwebhosting.uk/mydomains (or click Domains from the Client Area menu). You will see a list of all the domains registered or transferred to your account. Click the domain you want to manage, or the Manage button next to it.

Open the Nameservers section

From the domain’s management menu, click Nameservers.

Enter our nameservers

Choose Use custom nameservers and enter the following for hosting on our Enhance platform:

earth.pacwebhosting.uk
moon.pacwebhosting.uk
sun.pacwebhosting.uk
mars.pacwebhosting.uk

Then click Change Nameservers to save.

Not sure if your hosting is on our Enhance platform? Enhance hosting plans have (Enhance) in their name. You can check under your products and services. We also have a dedicated article: what nameservers do I use with the Enhance panel.

Domain only? Use our free DNS instead

If your domain is registered with us but isn’t hosted on our Enhance platform – for example your website or email is hosted elsewhere – you can use our free DNS service instead. Enter these nameservers:

ns1.pacwebhosting.co.uk
ns2.pacwebhosting.co.uk
ns3.pacwebhosting.co.uk
ns4.pacwebhosting.co.uk

You can then manage your DNS records yourself from the Client Area.

Which nameservers you use decides where you edit your DNS records afterwards: in Enhance for our Enhance nameservers, or in the Client Area for our free DNS. See how to update your domain’s DNS records.

If you use your PAC hosting for email as well, and you point your nameservers elsewhere (to a third party), you must recreate your mail DNS records there too or your email will stop working. Using our nameservers avoids this.

Domain changes are not always instant. Nameserver and DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes up to 24–48 hours to update across the internet (this is called “propagation”). During this time your site or email may work for some people before others.
