How to create a database and database user

Most website software, such as WordPress, stores its content in a database. If you install an app using our one-click installer, the database is created for you. You only need to create one yourself if you’re installing software manually.

First, log in to your Enhance panel – see how to login to Enhance Panel.

Create a database

  1. Select Websites in the left side bar, then select the website you want to manage.
  2. Select Databases in the top navigation.
  3. Select Add database and enter a name for the database.
  4. Create a new database user by filling in the user details, or choose an existing user.
  5. Select Add.

New users get full access to the database by default. Leave All database privileges ticked unless your software’s instructions tell you otherwise.

Make a note of the database name, username and password – your website software will ask for them. Use a strong, unique password.

Add another database user

  1. Select Websites in the left side bar, then select the website you want to manage.
  2. Select Databases, then Add user.
  3. Fill in the user details, and choose which database they should have access to.
  4. Select Add.

To manage your databases directly, see how to open phpMyAdmin.
