Because we run the servers, we could technically read your email and look through your files – so it’s a fair question. The answer is that we don’t, and it’s written into our Terms of Service.
The only times we’d access your mailbox, files or databases
- You ask us to – for example, to help with a support request.
- It’s needed to investigate or fix a problem – a technical fault, a security incident, malware or an abuse report.
- The law requires it.
Even then, we only look at what’s needed, and only authorised staff who are bound by confidentiality do so.
What about spam and virus filtering?
Automated systems, such as spam and virus filtering, scan email to protect you and our platform. No person reads your messages as part of this.
We never use your data for ourselves
We won’t sell your data or use it for our own purposes.
Requests from the police or other authorities
We only disclose customer information when there’s a valid legal basis, such as a court order or a lawful request under the relevant legislation. We don’t share our customers’ details with third parties making a complaint unless the law requires it.
We check it’s really you
We carry out identity checks before we discuss or change an account, so nobody can get information about your account just by asking for it.
