Domain Configuration Help (Registering)

This article is intended for use during purchase of a domain name

During your domain order if one or more of the domains end with .uk, .co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk you will be asked for some further information in fields that look like this below

The types you are able to choose from are:

UK Individual (representing self)
UK Limited Company
UK Public Limited Company
UK Partnership
UK Limited Liability Partnership
UK Sole Trader
UK Industrial/Provident Registered Company
UK School
UK Registered Charity
UK Government Body
UK Corporation by Royal Charter
UK Statutory Body
UK Entity that does not fit into any of the above
Non-UK Individual (representing self)
Non-UK Corporation
Non-UK Entity that does not fit into any of the above

Which should I choose?

If you are an individual registering a domain name for yourself then you should choose:

All UK individuals: UK Individual (representing self)
All Non UK Individuals (representing self)

For the above types DO NOT enter anything in the COMPANY ID NUMBER field

Enter your first and last name in the REGISTRANT NAME field

You can also select the WHOIS OPT-OUT checkbox which will hide your personal registrant data on the publicly available WHOIS registry*

If you are an individual trading/selling online you are not allowed to opt out of the whois.

If you are a UK Limited company (private or public), UK LLP or UK registered charity you should choose:

UK Limited Company (UK limited companies)
UK Public Limited Company (UK public limited companies)
UK Limited Liability Partnership (UK LLP)
UK Registered Charity (UK registered charities)

For the above types you MUST enter your company, LLP number or charity number in the COMPANY ID NUMBER field

Enter your full company name in the REGISTRANT NAME field

You are not allowed to use the WHOIS OPT-OUT for these legal types so please leave it unchecked

If you are a UK partnership or UK sole trader you should choose:

UK Partnership (UK partnerships)
UK Sole Trader (UK Sole Traders)

For the above types DO NOT enter anything in the COMPANY ID NUMBER field

In the REGISTRANT NAME field if you are a UK Partnership please enter the name of all the partners (up to 2) in this field, if there are more than 2 partners please use the name of at least one partner followed by the words “and partners”

In the REGISTRANT NAME field if you are a UK Sole Trader please enter your full name, you can also use the following format of your name plus your trading name for example Joh Smith t/a ABC Services

You are not allowed to use the WHOIS OPT-OUT for these legal types so please leave it unchecked

If you are a UK Entity, Non UK Corporation, Non-UK Entity you should choose:

UK Entity (UK entities that do not fit any of the other options)
Non-UK Corporation (Non UK registered companies)
Non-UK Entity (Non UK entities that do not fit into any other Non-UK option)

For the above types DO NOT enter anything in the COMPANY ID NUMBER field

In the REGISTRANT NAME field if you are a UK Entity or Non-UK Entity please enter the name of the entity in this field

In the REGISTRANT NAME field if you are a Non-UK Corporation please enter the name of the company in this field

You are not allowed to use the WHOIS OPT-OUT for these legal types so please leave it unchecked
